Draft Conservation Objective Statements
A Conservation Objective Statement was drafted as a first step in the development of a management plan for six pilot protected areas of focus in the "Improving Forest and Protected Area Management in Trinidad and Tobago" project.
The statement addresses key components of the protected area, is specific to conservation outcomes, contributes to improving the likelihood of good ecosystem health and is measurable and time specific.
Several considerations were incorporated in the development of the Conservation Objectives:
- site assets and conservation status
- condition (extent, diversity, quality/health)
- pressures/threats (current and future)
- human activities
- conflicts and complexities that can impact the conservation objective

Draft Conservation Objective statements were prepared by each Subcommittee over the period 2016-2017.
These have been / are in the process of being reviewed by the Project Steering Committee, key Government stakeholders and people in the local communities.
